Ethiopia’s role in hosting one of the largest refugee populations in Africa

On October 24, Ambassador Mike Raynor accompanied Ambassador Nikki Haley to !Gambella to get a first-hand impression of the conditions facing South Sudanese refugees hosted there. During their visit, Ambassador Haley praised Ethiopia’s role in hosting one of the largest refugee populations in Africa and reiterated U.S. commitments to support those efforts. During her visit she stressed the need to seek peaceful resolutions to conflicts in the region and for governments to respond to the needs and aspirations of their people. U.S. Mission to the United Nations.
