House of Representatives members jubilate as senators defect from APC

Lawmakers on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the House of Representatives are currently jubilating over the defection of some All Progressives Congress (APC) senators on Tuesday, July 24. Punch reports that the deputy minority leader, Chukwuka Onyema, led other members in singing anti-APC songs in the lobby of the National Assembly building. 

Silvianawilliamsblog.com gathers that plenary was yet to commence at the House for Tuesday, July 24. As the Speaker Yakubu Dogara arrived the chamber, members began to hail him as they chanted: “Dogara”; “Dogara”; “Dogara.” It is the hope of these members that a replica of what happened in the Senate on Tuesday happen in the House of Representatives too.

The Senators, including Dino Melaye and Abdul-Azeez Nyako, announced their defection at the Senate plenary on Tuesday, July 24. 
The list containing the Senators' names was handed over to Bukola Saraki, the president of the Senate, who managed to get to the plenary after a reported blockade in the morning. 

Meanwhile, Silvianawilliamsblog.com previously reported that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) reacted to the defection of fifteen All Progressives Congress (APC) senators who defected to its fold on Tuesday, July 24. Senate President Bukola Saraki on Tuesday, July 24, on the floor of the Senate announced the defection of the senators from the ruling party to the PDP. On its twitter page, the spokesperson of the PDP, Kola Ologbondiyan, described the defection as a boost for the party to win 2019 general elections.
